Glass pitcher
Brimming full with colors
A concoction of juices and citrus
Doused with love and
A splashing of booze
Salut!
* Chapman is a famous cocktail in Nigeria, it is often non alcoholic but you can add some alcohol if you like…the origin is not exactly known but the recipe is very much the same. It is often enjoyed with a club sandwich, and typically served in beer mugs* This is a common recipe for Chapman and one I have adopted myself…I know some friends add Lemon rinds to their recipe*
Ingredients
Ice cubes
1/2 liter of Fanta
1/2 liter of Sprite
1/4 cup of Black currant cordial or Ribena
A dash of Angostura bitters
Juice of Half Lemon, Lime and Orange
Cucumber slices
Orange slices
Lemon and Lime slices
A splash or more (if you prefer) of Campari
Recipe
Add icubes into a pitcher
Pour in the blackcurrant cordial
Add Spirte and Fanta at the same time
Stir and then add a dash of angostura bitters
Taste if necessary and add more bitters as needed
Pour in freshly sqeezed citrus juices
Add slices of cucumber and then citrus
Mix in the campari if using and stir all together
Allow to cool in the refrigerator
Chapman is best served chilled in beer mugs

hmm sounds darn tasty to me
It is really good! I try to indulge only once in a while. Thanks Bruce
Ooo–that looks (and sounds) yummy. Nice poem too.
Thanks Susan
! I know what i am serving you whenever you come visit
.
Oh, yes, please
I love sweet with an edge of bitter…
I love trying tastes that are native to other cultures. Thanks for sharing that.
Absolutely! Let me know how it goes and if you like it
. Thank you!
what would be a typical dinner?
Depends on what ethnicity. Most parts have foods unique to them, but rice is very national meal. Made in different variations; like fried rice with lots of vegetables, shrimp, chicken and liver (i use gizzards)…then there is jollof rice also called red rice. That is usually a hit with most people who are new to NIgerian food…it’s bascially rice cooked in spicy tomato sauce.
do you cook that way for your family now ?
it sounds delicious
Yes, it’s all some certain people would eat lol. I try to mix it up with Foods from other places but nigerian foods are the staple here
.
cool — is there a Chicago area restaurant to get that type of cuisine? I am in the Naperville area.
Yes there are a few on the north side of the city…i have a lot of friends in Naperville. I would ask if there are any around them
. If not if ever i have a party, then you got an invite to come and sample good food lol.
laughing, I will begin reading my books on manners!
That is almost like a sangria – just I think instead of wine some rum would be in order! No matter what it sounds like a wonderful summer patio drink to enjoy while watching a sunset!
Yea almost like Sangria. Lol at the rum…i think i would be walking on my head if i tried rum but who knows lol.
Perhaps a gentle dash of rum then – not enough to be wobbling but just enough to lubricate the conversation and the imagination

Exactly
!!!
Oh, I have walked on my head with just the wine in sangria…rings back some memories ;D
hahaha…yea there are days it just gets to the head fast lol
Looks delicious boomie — maybe a healing tonic? Especially since ‘doused with love’ ~ and a little booze has to be a good thing too!!
I know the bitters have some medicinal thingy but don’t quote me on that lol. But love has all the healing for sure and maybe a splash of booze
. Thanks Robyn, how are you feeling this morning?
That picture and your words, absolutely appealing. Can I have some?
Oh most def Lily!!!
Sounds like the perfect Saturday drink, very vibrant colours, and if you’re making then I shall be right over!
With pleasure
!
I’ll hold you to that!
Sounds refreshing. I will have to try this. I will have some without alcohol & then add a splash & drink to you!
Ah yea sweet. it really is, i made it for a friend’s baby shower years ago and it was such a hit. I had to stop when it was all everyone wanted and i was mixing other drinks lol. Let me know what you think whenever you try it
I’ll drink to that! No, I won’t — I’m not allowed to drink ever again!
Oh you can have it without any booze
. That’s often how i have mine

Thank you so much for the kind nomination. Very much appreciated

you’re very welcome
Sounds good! I’m not sure if I know where to get all of those ingredients, though.
It really is. Oh you can find many of them in regular stores…like the bitters. The blackcurrant cordial are more common in the UK.
Ah, so conducive to those Sunday shenanigans
You are so right Madhu lol. Thanks always!
That looks delicious! I should try to make it before the summer’s completely out.
Yea you should if you can, it’s really good
.
I’ll have a double!
Ah yes, I am with you on that

Reblogged this on Bag Lady Boutique.
Looks wonderful and in this heat in Bangladesh VERY refreshing. However, I think I would struggle to find most of the ingredients (especially any alcohol to add to it!) so please crate me over a month’s supply will you?!
With absolute pleasure
!
Made me thirsty, reading that.
Sounds delicious, although I wouldn’t have thought of the cucumbers.
Yea it really is good
. The cucumber gives it this refreshing zing i think…i love cucumbers so i think its a fine excuse to have it in a drink lol
Ooooh chapman. Brings back memories! Do you remember fanta Chapman? I will try to make some with your recipe!
I remember Fanta Chapman o well well lol…that was so good and addictive. Yea please try it and let me know
