Boomie Pic

I started this blog in 2012…however I figured today is a great day as any to reintroduce myself, so here goes… please pull up a seat, or spread out your arms for a warm hug…or your hand for a firm handshake…

my name is Olubunmi (Bunmi) but I write under the name Boomie Bol.

I am  wife and a mom of 10-year-old fraternal twin daughters.

I am Nigerian who lives in the US.

I love books so much so naturally; libraries are one of my favorite places.

I started writing as a child, maybe at 5, however it was always behind my Bible; asking God for world peace, and if I could pray for five or six hours so he could forgive the devil and the world could become better. I find that I still carry that innocence and naiveté́ in my belly.

I believe my first shared poem was at age 13 or so. it was titled “Universal Woman” a gift to my high school principal.

for almost 15 years. I did not write…

these days I write at least 7 poems daily. I also write short stories, and have several manuscripts buried all over. I share my poems and short stories daily on this blog and on my IG page- @boomiebol.

I write about love, life, loss, and the random lots in between.

I also perform my poetry at events, and have had the good fortune of performing at several events over the past few years.

I am available to perform/ speak at your next event.

I am currently working on my first book, titled “paper heart” it is targeted for fall 2020 release, and I am excited for this dream to unfold before my eyes.

I am counting on your immense support when it is officially out…please watch this space and my other social media spaces for more details…

I am a big believer in kindness…words have offered me the pleasure. I hope to be able to repay others back by sharing my work.

Welcome to my blog.

  1. What an eloquent talent you are! I enjoy reading your views, thoughts and life accounts. You are a gifted writer God has blessed you, thank you for sharing.

  2. Lol no worries, I’m no technology wizard too! Click on dashboard-appearance-widgets. In the widgets page you can find all kinds of attachments to include on the sides of your blog page including a search box. It depends on your theme features though. btw I was trying to find your post called ‘attack and defend’ xx

  3. That’s absolutely the BEST kind of writing.

And look at that, you have the same theme as Daisy’s personal blog!

  4. Dear Boomie Bol,
I have nominated you for the “Tell Me About Yourself Award”! If you wish to accept, please visit my Blog Awards page. 🙂
    Best wishes,
    Ferdinand

  5. i pretty much like your blog. a nice blog indeed. Would like to invite you at mine !!!

    best of luck !!!

  6. Boomie Bol, I could read every line of your blog a billion times, they are so captivating. And I could say that a billion times as well.
Ps: Thank you for following! Sounds quite ridiculous; ‘yuy got a follower!’, but it works so supporting! 😉

  7. Thank you for writing from your heart, for I beleive that is where the magic, power, and connection lies. I look forward to reading many of your posts!

    Russ

  8. “Poetry allows one to speak with a power that is not granted by our culture” – very true. It seems the trick is to learn how to express the depth of these feelings in more mundane ways, and blogging is an excellent first step, I find!

  9. Hi, Boomie Bol! My schedule as been turned upside down. I’m looking forward to getting back to normalcy and enjoying reading again. Poor Oster caught a terrible virus that is almost out of his system.

I’ve just nominated your blog for the One Lovely Blog Award. As you know, I really enjoy reading your posts and wanted to share your site with others. See http://discoveranddevour.com/2012/06/13/one-lovely-blog-award/

I’m looking forward to seeing what you have written since I’ve been gone. Miss your writings and can’t wait to catch up!

  11. I can’t thank you enough for visiting my Blog. You’re a deep concerned person, I’m a bunch of fancy fluff. Nonetheless, as your writing and points of view mature, even make differences in the world, I hope you will continue to take a break every now and then down in my happy fool’s paradise at Queen’s end.

    • Oh Resa, you are too kind…I am a fancy fluff too believe me…sometimes i read back some of the things i have written and wonder where they come from. I love your blog and all its fanciness. I remain a fan 🙂

      • Keep on writing! I just signed an Avaaz.org petition to stop the Hunger games in Africa. I think this organization is together. There’s been reports on CNN that have included the fact that Avaaz is represented at certain talks/conferences. You may already be part of their power, but just in case, I wanted you to know about some non-fluff I’m attached to..

      • Going to check out the site later tonight. Thanks so much Resa, I truly appreciate your kindness and for doing something…yep yu are the truth my dear. Hugs

    • Hi Resa, I just went on Avaaz.org and signed a few petitions and joined for mailings. Thanks for turning me on to this website…I know we can be the generation that brings change. Hugs dear and many thanks

  12. Wow–you cover such a wide range, and do it all well! The Father’s Day story cracked me up, your poems moved me. Glad to have found you.

    • Thank you so much. You were on my blog at the same time i was on yours…i hope you don’t think i was stalking you lol, i had so much fun reading your posts. Glad i found you via book of Alice. keep up the great job and can’t wait to read more from you. Thanks for stopping by here, very much appreciated. God bless

  13. It is nice to find this blog, I see many of those that I follow scattered among your commentors. I can already feel that it will be a place to call home as I peruse the works you share.

  14. Thanks for reading O Come, Thou Knight. I’m afraid the inspiration is from a fellow blogger who has not posted in about a month. Holden Beach tomorrow for a week with extended family. No doubt a vast about of grist for the mill. Happy 4th.

      • The more of your work I read, the more impressed I am. I hope I can illicit a following as great as yours. You are an inspiration! I had a problem getting my “reply” to you as well, out of frustration, I hit the “reply” on the comment above mine, and it opened up my “post comment” button.

  15. After reading your blog, I shut off the computer and had dinner. Then I went out to the field to plant pumpkins for the fall. It’s pleasant, solitary work on a nice, warm, summer evening and a time to let the mind wander wherever it chooses. Of all the places my mind could have gone, it was “She Came Back Home” and “Au Naturel.”
I found myself reconsidering the story and the words and phrases, enjoying them all over and over. Congratulations on some fine work. I look forward to more.

    • Oh thank you so much, that is such a sweet and kind comment to get. Glad you enjoyed the posts you read…Au Naturel is one of my many Sunday night silly and naughty posts…but She Came Back Home, means so much to me…I am especially glad you got to read it. Thanks so much

    • Thank you so much Stephen…trust me when i first started i was the only one liking my posts :). It sure gets better…and some have over 800 likes…i am a fan of your bowls and the bench i saw today looks very nice and would be great on any patio. Keep up the great work, and thanks for stopping by

    • Beebee no need to thank me at all. I enjoy reading your posts. Didn’t want to leave any comment on this as I didn’t have the appropriate words.

You are a wonderful writer and mom. It shows in your many posts about your amazing son. It is a pleasure to read your work. God bless, big hugs

    • Oh Oster’s mom. I know i say this all the time, but you and all these other kind readers make me smile…my eyes are watering a bit now because i just got some good news all because of another blog i follow. This blog, you and all the kind people who continue to inspire me in ways they might never know are some of the many highlights of this year- a year that has been so rocky for the most of it.

Big hugs to you now and always. Love much.

  16. Just made it here after following your “like” from one of my pieces on Random Misanthrope. I really enjoy your writing. Thanks for reading mine, and for sharing yours. I’ll come back often!

  17. Hi Boomie–if you’d like (don’t have to, but if you want to), you can reblog that post I wrote about the “Five Stages of Divorce on Facebook” as a guest post. It’s probably all I’m going to be able to eke out this week! Hope you are having a wonderful vacation 🙂

    • Oh thank you. I appreciate your kind comment. Always a pleasure reading your posts. Yes I think I got a few…everyone has been so kind to me on this blog. I remain ever grateful. How have you been?

  20. Tired, Boomie..I am thrilled with the new challenges, etc I submit to, but it is becoming very time consuming-AHHH! I try to read and enjoy blogs of those I follow and especially those who follow me.
I never realized popularity required so much time-not that I have that many readers, but I a, pleased with the opportunities that I have had to meet new blog friends, people with whom I find things in common. It is indeed a small world these days! beebee

  21. So you did resist the temptation to troll your about me page. I couldn’t help it! Your blog is wonderful and I’m glad your out of your shell. Take care.
