What hope? What Future?

Standard

Holy war and hate
Disguised as religion

Innocence stolen
Guilt whispered
Loyalty stirred
Only for a greedy cause

Childhood kidnapped
as younglings carry firearms
Hate instilled in their innocence
dreams of growing
Turn cold and unreal

Human aid and rescue
Takes last place
as greed and government tyrants
seek to fill their overflowing pockets
And fatten their oversized bulges

Raising bratty inbreeds
Who grow up to continue the sad
And disheartening cycle

And so the hope of a better tomorrow
seems an illusion

As the hope and future
Rest in the hands of brats
Rascals and misfits
Raised by selfish tyrants

  1. As the hope and future
Rest in the hands of brats
    Rascals and misfits
    Raised by selfish tyrants….phenomenal!
I want so much to read your poem aloud to an audience or read it along with you in a give and take moment. This is great theater of realism and so wonderfully direct

  2. your words bring so many past and present atrocites to mind……..the recent Kony 2012……Biafra and more, and even the urban bloodshed in the cities of the US & UK…..the riots here last year and Trayvon’s current case……our children pay the price constantly of the madness we adults create that shatters thier world………

    • Well said! I hope a generation would arise soon, and dare to be different. Perhaps, this generation for i believe we know better, now if only we can do better. When one of us suffers, regardless of time and space, i believe we all do…thanks for always reading 🙂
